The major issue in the play industry is safety and for the professional provider licensing can seem tedious and draining, we will work with you to make this process easier. Greenlane will make sure your play area meets all USCPSC, ADA, and ASTM codes as required by federal and state. We will provide you with a “Letter of Compliance” by our inspectors for your insurance carrier and state inspector.
We are proud members of the NPCA (National Playground Contractors Association), NPSI (National Playground Safety Institute) and the ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) and are fully bonded for projects from $1,000 to well over $1,000,000 in value.
Safety
Kids play hard and that means they're going to occasionally skin an elbow or bruise a shin. Make safety a top priority to eliminate the risk of more serious mishaps. The NPPS (National Program for Playground Safety) tracks a variety of statistics related to playground injuries, including:
- More than 200,000 preschool and elementary children receive emergency department care for playground-related injuries every year.
- Nearly 70% of all injuries occur on public playgrounds.
- Children four and under receive injuries playing on swings more often than any other common play event, while children ages 5-14 are more likely to get hurt using climbing equipment.
- Falls to the surface were a contributing factor in 70% of all injuries.
Accessibility
No child should be left on the outside looking in. We design our play structures so all children can play side-by-side with their friends. Successfully integrating kids with and without disabilities is perhaps the most challenging step in creating an integrated playground for all kids. You will likely want to choose a playground equipment manufacturer with real solutions for access and comparable play value issues.
The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) provides for "equal access" features in publicly-used facilities, including playgrounds. Recently the ADA revised its guidelines for accessible play areas, adopting new minimum requirements for elevated and ground-level play activities, as well as surfacing.
